Can I fund-raise for my trip and can BHBH help me with that? Is the trip tax deductible?
Yes, you can certainly fund-raise on your own! We are a registered U.S. non-profit and you can use this fact when fundraising - it has proven helpful for many past volunteers. All program fees (including airfare) are entirely tax deductible in the U.S. for U.S. citizens to the full extent of the IRS regulations. This means family members, friends and other supporters can make tax-deductible contributions to BHBH, which can be directly applied to your program fees. You should consult your tax advisor for specifics. A receipt will be sent to each person that donates. Receipts are also sent for people who make donations through PayPal on-line.
