Una Vida’s ministry is founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Bible instructs us to love and care for one another and demonstrate our love, not only through what we say, but also by what we do. Una Vida provides an opportunity for people to put their faith and love into action. After all,

Faith without works is dead – James 2:20.

Feeding the hungry, providing shelter, honoring with love and dignity

Una Vida is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to contributing services to the most needy in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We are committed to eliminating substandard housing, bringing local schools valuable resources, providing nourishment through community gardening, and offering scholarships for local youth. We believe all men, women and children should be honored, loved, appreciated, and provided for in ways that are helpful and meaningful to them. Inspired by our desire to be a living expression of our faith, we strive to provide education and sustainable development to those we help. These concepts define our vision:

Having a servant’s heart

When we serve selflessly and willingly, we believe God is pleased with our efforts and His love becomes apparent to others through our actions. If we are truly to be followers of Christ, we must understand that nothing we do is a sacrifice in relation to what Christ ultimately did for us. Through our work, we hope to bless others as the Lord has blessed us.

Offering hope and transforming lives

 

Una Vida provides education, information, and service opportunities for participants through an immersion program that urges them to appreciate the ways in which we, as Americans, have been blessed with innumerable opportunities and resources. It is our hope that putting faith into action in this way allows for a meaningful experience that produces life-long changes in the lives of all trip participants.

Bringing everyone together

Una Vida believes every person benefits from an intense immersion experience that equips him or her with the knowledge to make a lasting commitment to a lifestyle of service. All who desire to be a part of this work are welcome, regardless of religious preference or background. We provide specific programs for church and faith based groups as well as non-faith based groups.

As an ecumenical Christian ministry, Una Vida invites people of all faiths to participate in our programs and join us on our journey to help those with great need. It is about being an example. It is about being the change. It is about serving God by serving others.

Taking action
